Landscape painting refers to paintings which depict natural scenery, such as forests, mountains, fields, rivers, and coasts.  
 
Landscape paintings can be depictions of actual or imagined scenery of the outdoors, where human figures and man made structures, if included, are reduced to minor supporting roles.
